Ethan became a big cousin this week. My sister had her adorable baby boy, Harvey Knoxx. I can't wait to meet him!
Derek has been gone most of the week on a camp out, so Ethan and I had to do something to keep us busy. We decided to try potty training! This was our 2nd attempt. The first 2 days, not so good. There was even an embarrassing moment when my visiting teachers were over and Ethan had a (#2) accident! Anyway, we kept with it. I decided to pray for us. Patience for me and understanding for him. By Wednesday, I discovered that as long as Ethan was naked, he would use his toilet without me even prompting him. So we have spent the last 4 days inside and naked (just Ethan of course) and he has had no accidents!!!!
Yesterday I did take him to the park because we both desperately needed to get out. I put pull ups on Ethan but told him we want to keep them dry, and we came home 2 hours later still dry! I am so proud of my little boy!
Another big step we took this week was transitioning Ethan to a toddler bed. Here is a picture of his new room.
This just in... Ethan informed us tonight that it was his turn to pray. Normally Derek tells him what to say and Ethan repeats it. Tonight Ethan added his own little bit. It went a little something like this, "Thank you for Mommy and Baby Ty and Lighting McQueen and Mater and Doc." For those who don't know these are characters from the movie Cars that are on his bedspread. I was not very reverent and Ethan did not like that I started laughing. I'll need to work on that. What a funny boy!

Tough Day of Church
Ethan had a hard time at church today. We have transitioned Ethan to a new room with a big boy bed this week and it has resulted in him waking up at 7am every morning :( He was exhausted at church and acted up because of it. When we got home a little after 4pm he fussed for some juice so I got him some and went upstairs to change. I came down less than 5 minutes later to find him like this...
Poor little guy was so tuckered out!

San Diego Weekend
We spent last weekend in San Diego and had a blast! We went to the zoo and Ethan loved all of the animals. His favorites were the "hippo, heavy", "lion, sleeping", "giraffe pooped", "peacocks", "ducks, quack, quack" and the "bear, dancing". Here are some pictures to highlight our trip.

Ethan slept in the bed at the hotel rather than his travel crib, and he did great. I see a big boy bed in his future!
We also went to La Jolla beach. I love that beach because we had a YSA activity there when Derek and I were dating, so it brings back some fun memories.
