1st Trip to the E.R.

What an eventful night! We had just gotten done with family night when Ethan told me he had to go to the bathroom and ran upstairs (he will not use the downstairs bathroom lately for reasons I do not know). He likes to climb on the tank of the toilet to wait for me. The lights were off and as I came up the stairs saying, "Where's Ethan" like I normally do, he got excited and fell off the toilet smashing his forehead into the counter top. :( As most head wounds do, it bled quite a lot.

Thank goodness Derek was home so he drove us to the E.R. as I held a wash cloth against Ethan's head. He was already calmed down at this point and the bleeding had stopped. They wrapped his head to apply a cleaning and numbing agent to the wound. He was a champ and acting his normal self by this point. Then he had to use the bathroom and when I picked him up to wash his hands he just stared at his bandaged head for the longest time.

Restraining Ethan while the doctor stitched him up was the hardest part. I started singing but that wasn't helping so I asked him if he wanted me to count. We normally count down the last 30 seconds of his time outs, so I think he liked that so he knew when it would be done. I just had to take my time because I knew I couldn't go past 30. Anyway, he is doing fine now. He got 4 stitches and we'll go back in 5 days to have them removed. Derek said he may not have a future in male modeling now, but I'm sure we can all live with that.

I think we all handled it very well, but I definitely don't want to make a habit out of this! Here he is after a good nights sleep and a nice shower. What a tough little boy!

He is still really, really, really, ridiculously good looking.

Chicks dig scars.

Well at least Uncle Sean wasn't involved. Lori and Chris have forehead wounds from chasing around with him, ha ha! Matt visited the ER 3 times in 6 weeks one year. Stitches twice and a broken arm. It took 2 nurses, Mark and a straight jacket to hold him down. So glad Ethan was more cooperative!! He is still very cute!
